Bells Milk Bar in Broken Hill is one of the last remaining intact milk bars in Australia. Bells began as a confectioner in 1892. It was first called Bells Milk Bar around 1938. The current shop reflects the 1956 version.
The ‘out of this world’ soda spiders and malted milks served here are made using Bells own syrups and cordials, made by hand in small batches in the old syrup room, to Les Bells’ famous secret recipes, that have been handed down through the generations. syrups and cordials are available at www.bellsmilkbar.com.au with free shipping Australia wide for orders over $50.
Walking into Bells in 2020 is like stepping back in time! You can drink a cherry ripe malted milk or sip a Bodgies Blood soda spider – out of a real metal container or soda glass – while drifting away to the latest 1950s or 1960s music, or reading a 1956 new idea. Pretty much the same experience as people were having in 1950s and 1960s.
